Not so little

We have had such a busy month and it’s not over yet. We went to Oklahoma to watch this guy graduate. Can’t believe he’ll be going to college in a few short months!

I met him when he was 3 and he’s been a pretty fun addition to our lives. We are so proud of you Andrew and can’t wait to call you Doctor!

Seeing Green!

She’s a rockstar!

One good thing…

The heat is coming so we have to try to find the positives. Here’s a Texas positive:bluebonnets! So pretty and all over the place for a few spring weeks.

Look at my cuties sitting right in the middle of them!

And just because I love this one…

Thanks Lynn!

tournament numero uno

Saturday was Katie’s first tournament. Oh my word, it was a long day. Really we were just there for 4 hrs, but the longest for hours considering the chic-fil-a peeps who were supposed to be catering kept running out of chicken and taking an hour to go restock and mom of the year I am brought zero snacks for the boy. But we survived. Gran came to the rescue with a few snacks and we persevered. The blackbelts were judges so their round was first. It was pretty fun to watch those guys. Katie competed in form and board break. She was awesome! Here’s her form round. Please pay no attention to the crazies who walked in front of the video camera.

She was nervous, and practiced a ton in the 3 days prior. We signed up a tad late, but on the flip side, less time to worry. And she did great! She got 2nd place, earning a trophy. Her 2nd event was the board break and the guys she competed with were pretty intense, jumping over people to kick a board for example. She medaled in that round.

Through all this she battled an upset tummy and on the way home the stomach virus reared its head and she spent the next several hours a sick little girl. Just imagine how well she can do when not dealing with sickness! So proud of this girl!

Workin’ her way up! This time with a trophy! :)

8 is great!

Well she did it again. She had another birthday. They just keep happening. Time is flying by so fast with this girl. We tried to make it extra special with a surprise balloon doorway when she woke up followed by birthday cake pancakes. And the brightest iced cupcakes at school for her whole class of course! Her dinner pick was taco burgers. At scouts, they had a Valentines party and sang happy birthday to her. I think she had a pretty great day! :)

We started party day with a cake fiasco. As you can see it turned into a pile of mush. But these two didn’t seem to mind. J caught them sneaking a few bites. I wonder how much they ate before he found them? Love Kyle’s expression!

The redo worked out much better. J did a great job on her uniform cake.

Her party was at her taekwondo school. She got to help lead the class in warm up and demonstrate kicks and self-defense moves. All the kids got to break a board and take it home. I just love this action shot. Concentrate!

Even this boy, who for weeks was sooo excited for her “hi-yah” party got to break a board. After all that excitement, he refused to get on the mat and participate, so when they offered him a board to break we figured he’d just refuse it too. We were all shocked when he just punched it and broke it. Mr. Tony was really surprised! After that Kyle decided the party was pretty fun. ;)

Couldn’t be more proud of this girl! Such a blessing to everyone she meets.

Prepare for takeoff!

A few months ago my mom got us all a groupon for the AA museum. And since we tend to procrastinate, we went last weekend as the expiration date is coming up. The kids had a great time. There was an old plane on display you could board. Since they’d never been on a plane, this was a treat. Katie was really surprised about how small it was inside the plane. She has a point, looks are deceiving when you compare inside and outside. Granted this was an old 21 seater plane, but newer planes are pretty tight too.

After the ride we watched a movie about AA history. The seating was of course airplane seats, which was super fun for them.

There is afun kids area with exhibits, movement experiments and even a hovercraft! I was a bit jealous there was not an adult sized hovercraft to ride. Back to the future flashbacks!

And there were random airplane parts perfect for photo ops! And a willing girl to make appropriate silly faces!

More or less

So obviously one of my resolutions was not to blog more or daily or at all. Or if it was I’ve failed miserably.  I felt compelled to post something before the month is over, so here it is. Maybe someday I’ll play catch up on Christmas, but since it’s almost Feb and birthdays are about to start, it might be awhile.

So far this month, I’ve been dealing with sick kiddos, who have so kindly passed their germs onto me. I’ve been debating about what to do about next year’s schooling for the girl. And rethinking everything about scouts. So, lots of thinking, not much deciding.

Oh, and we celebrated anniversary #11 last week. Time flies super fast when kids show up doesn’t it? We went to a movie tavern, where you order from a menu and eat a full meal during the movie. That was a cool experience. And the movie was really good. I’m not a heights person, and Mission Impossible 4, scared the heck out of me. There’s a lot of extremely high up crazy stunts. I was so worried Tom was going to fall off the tallest building in the world. But thankfully he survived ;) We finished with ice cream sandwiches to calm my nerves.

Hope January has been good to you. Have you broken your resolutions yet? I decided not to make any, so I’m golden.

Later gators!

Spidey who?

Christmas #2 tonight! Cousins!

And Uncle Mikey of course!

The girls

The Spideys! This gift was a winner! :)

Just look at some of the places we have found Whimsy since he’s arrived!

He brought a stack of gifts and a note one moring.

And a few days later, he brought us new stockings! Aren’t they cute?

Getting a little too cozy with Barbie?

Look closely at the faces. That guy!

Candy diving! Sweet ;)

Whimsy, Whimsy!

Where will he be next?
